During the operation of your car, the turbine actuator has the ability to fail and you will need to replace it to continue operating the turbocharged engine. Replacing the engine wastegate involves not only its installation, but also the correct adjustment, which must be done very correctly.
Turbo Engine Actuator (wastegate) - this part serves as a type of fuse for the turbine, the principle of the actuator is the opening of the valve and the drop in gas pressure at the turbocharger inlet into the exhaust manifold.
In a more primitive way, the turbine actuator opens the valve in front of the turbine, protecting your car's engine from high revs by dumping exhaust gases into the tailpipe.
There are 3 main types of turbine actuators:
- empty;
- electronic;
- electronic vacuum.
