This Teflon axle provides reinforcement against the shaft, which will prevent, on a turbo assembly for example, with a lot of torque, the order from being twisted and the gearbox axle breaking.

One of the biggest weaknesses of the 02M and 02Q gearboxes is the stripping of the 4th gear teeth. This can become a major problem on high torque vehicles. The problem is that the vibration and twisting force that goes through the input shaft and the opposite shaft, this spreads the gears apart. The result is that the 4th gear no longer engages properly, this can cause the 4th gear to break or the teeth to strip.

The carrier works by a brass bracket pushing against the input shaft to stop the two 4th gears from separating. The carrier preload is adjustable and should be checked periodically.

We highly recommend this modification for vehicles operating at 400 ft/lbs+ (for both gasoline and diesel applications)
